According to encyclopedias human beings are defined as organisms having human attributes which are the representatives of the sympathies of human nature. This definition is not wrong, but it is not the only definition of human being. According to my understanding, human beings are not differentiated clearly by this definition. A human being has a structure normally consists of one nose, two legs, two arms, two ears, two eyes, and so forth. We know from the studies that human beings somehow have identical genetic coding as great apes, which clearly raises a point that our human form is not the reason and definition of human being. The definitions in the encyclopedias also mention that human beings have ability to express emotions, love, hate care and etc. obviously, we know that animals have the same ability of showing love toward their children and other animals just as we human have. Therefore, it shows that having the ability of showing emotions such as love, hate, anger and etc does not define us entirely as human being.

Having all these reasons in our hand, we know the definitions and meaning of human being, but still our definitions does not entirely differ us from other beings on the earth. Scientifically, human beings are different from other beings on the earth by their genetic codes. What makes a human being unique from other beings is their ability to think rationally, make relationships and connections. Human beings have unique superiority over other beings on the earth. We are not only able to think rationally, which other beings can not, but we are able and have the power of using that knowledge and implementing those thoughts to reach the highest level of accomplishment and success. One day Allah (Subhanawo.Wa.Ta’aala) told his angels that I would like to create a human being (Khalif) on earth. He created Hazrat Adam (Alaih-e-Salaam) and thought him the names of the materials in the heaven. Adam was the one who participated in competition against the angels of heaven and used his rational thinking ability that Allah (S.W.T) had provided him with; he learnt and told the names of things which angels did not know.

There are many interpretations about the sentence “What does it mean to be human?” People around the world have different answers and point of views regarding this question. Albert Einstein, German born American Physicist, believes that human being means “The most important human endeavor is the striving for morality in our actions. Our inner balance and even our very existence depend on it. Only morality in our actions can give beauty and dignity to life.” (Think Exist.com) This Subjective fact could be human behavior and as a matter of fact I believe there is not only one accurate meaning for the word “human”. Being a human does not mean to have two ears, one heart, two hands, or to be wealthy, to own property and etc, on the other hand being a human means to have the ability to differentiate between right and wrong. One should be able to know how ethical and appropriate a decision is. A human does not have to accept what ever he is told so, he rather be able by him self to know the right. Similar to this another question arises that, how terrorists come to presence? Are they predestined terrorists? Terrorists are not predestined, they are not born they are made. Since poverty has occupied many Asian countries, people join extremists groups because they are paid enough to support their families. Terrorists are also human but the way that they have chosen is not correct. It was their choice to take appropriate decision to support their families, but they could not. Not every but many of the terrorists have the same reason. Being a human means, having the ability to think rationally and critically. As a human, they do have these abilities, but since they are not able to use them, I believe there is no difference between them and animals. They should be able to think deeply beyond the critical tangible things in the world.

Everybody knows that tangible aspects such as driving car, building roads, painting and the arts make us different from animals, but what we have to understand the critical and an important point. We, as human beings, are able to make relationships and connections. This unique superiority helps us to broad and grow our horizons, thrive success and make our species proud of what we are. We have been divided into various nationalities of American, Afghan, Irish, Swedish and etc. With in these groups we have been divided into other ethnic groups such as Pashtun, Punjabi, and etc. Having respect to all nationalities and ethnic groups, have we proved ourselves as responsible human being? As mentioned earlier, one of our superiority over other beings is our ability to make relationships, how strong do we have relations both nationally and internationally? Neither have we kept the relationship sacred and respected nor we have kept it alive but instead we have been turned into killers. We have been killing human and humanity since the birth of first human over the surface of earth. Allah (S.W.T) told his angels that my creation will build relationship and love; they will worship and respect me and my creation. We do worship Allah, believe in his prophets, believe and respect his sent religions, but then why we are we killing other human beings using the religion? Why is religion used as an excuse for killing and demolishing human and humanity?

In addition, everybody has different definition, beliefs and thought of what does it mean to be human. We were sent to this world with responsibilities and purpose. We have superiority over other beings; we are able to think rationally and deeply. We have the ability to differentiate right from wrong. Our lives depend on what we think? What we decide? And how we decide? How we use our natural skills of making decision and make the best choice. We have not fulfilled our responsibilities and have not proven ourselves as responsible human beings. We, as humans, are suppose to make relationships and connections with each others. We have to respect and accept morality and have to prove ourselves as responsible creation. Allah (S.W.T) has given us the surname of Ashraf-ul-Makhloqaat (the Noblest Creation) but we have misinterpreted the meaning. We need to re focus on our responsibilities and our purpose for which we have been sent to this world.
